FORTHCOMING LECTURES:

Wednesday 1st October 2008:  Not a Transglobe Expedition Trust (TET) event but this should be a very entertaining evening. John Blashford-Snell, the well known explorer, is a great raconteur and past recipient of a TET award for his own remarkable travels in Africa. Who better to tell the story of Stanley and Livingstone?

"IN DARKEST AFRICA"

The story of Stanley and Livingstone

by

Colonel John Blashford-Snell

at the

ROYAL GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY

Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR

Wednesday 1st October 2008 at 7pm (doors open at 6pm)

With magic lantern pictures used by Sir Henry Moreton Stanley in his own lectures and other early images, the eminent explorer Colonel John Blashford-Snell tells an incredible story of 19th century adventure and discovery. Stanley's voice from an early recording will be heard and the compass he carried when finding Dr David Livingstone will be displayed.

Stanley and Livingstone had the most humble upbringing and both were connected with Liverpool. Thus the lecture is given in aid of the Merseyside Youth Association, a charity which is doing much to help disadvantaged young.

Tickets are £15 (payable to Merseyside Youth Association) and may be obtained from:

Mrs Anne Gilby, Expedition Base, Motcombe, Shaftesbury, Dorset, SP7 9PB
